Artists in Schools offers schools a chance to enhance arts-related activities that are linked to educational outcomes through partnerships with professional artists. The aim of the program is to expand access to meaningful artistic activities, increase student engagement in learning, cultivate cross-disciplinary learning skills and attitudes, and foster a lifelong interest in the arts.

Artists in Schools - Development grant deadlines are February 5 and September 5. Development grants provide small amounts of funding to schools and/or professional artists or arts professionals to build relationships with potential partners, develop projects or residencies, and/or research school or community needs.

Artists in Schools - Projects provides support for collaboration between artists and schools to co-create an inquiry-based arts and learning project through their combined knowledge, skills, and experience. Projects are unique in their design and developed in response to the needs and interest of the school community while connecting to cross-curricular and cross-cultural outcomes.

Artists in Schools - Residencies funding assists schools in hosting an artist-in-residence project by contracting a professional Saskatchewan artist working in any art form for a one- to five-month residency term. Host schools provide a suitable working space in which the artist is engaging with and accessible to the school community. The artist immerses themselves in the school setting with the purpose of encouraging a creative environment and enriching educational experience.

Artists in Schools is a SK Arts program supported by funding from Sask Lotteries through the partnership between SK Arts and SaskCulture Inc. and from the Government of Saskatchewan through the Ministry of Education.
