Overview
Three Left Feet is the Executive Producer for the Canadian National Stilt Symposium 2026. CNSS will be held in Calgary from Sep 24-27, 2026. Venues are spread out throughout the Greater Downtown Area with our main gathering venue at the Knox United Church.
About Three Left Feet
Three Left Feet is a federally registered charitable organization. Three Left Feet encourages, fosters and develops positive awareness of dance. Our goal is to create broad-based public awareness about dance as a viable art form using a myriad of styles. Three Left Feet proves everyone can dance, even those with two left feet.
The fourth annual Canadian National Stilt Symposium is a co-production between Three Left Feet and National Stiltwalkers of Canada. The CNSS is a forum for the wonder, spectacle, and cultural practices of stiltwork across the globe.
Position Snapshot
Position Title: Managing Producer
Reports to: Artistic Director for Three Left Feet
Location: Calgary, AB (in-person festival operations required)
Employment Type: Temporary Contract with seasonal intensity (see Compensation & Term)
Role Summary
The Managing Producer is a highly collaborative role within a small but mighty team for planning and delivery of the annual CNSS and related programs. The role oversees production and logistics, team cohesion and volunteer management. The role supports budgeting and cash flow, marketing and communications — ensuring a successful festival in 2026 while maintaining awareness and energy throughout the duration of the contract.
Festival Production & Logistics
- In collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Managing Producer will plan, budget, schedule, and deliver the CNSS in September and serve as the point-person for artists, technicians and venues pre-festival, during and after.
- Coordinate venues, artists, suppliers, and partners; oversee technical schedule, apply for performance permits for outdoor Public Activation locations, artist travel/accommodations, and accessibility measures.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and seed partnerships with primary stakeholders including, but not limited to: Knox United Church, City of Calgary, Tourism Calgary, the CORE shopping, Platform Calgary, Downtown Calgary.
- Ensure all timelines are met for Artist Agreements and Artist Information (eg. bios, photos, etc.)
- Manage on-site festival operations: box office, POS and floats, merchandise inventory, attendance tracking and issue de-escalation
Financial Management & Festival-End Administration
- Monitor cash flow, track expenses and revenues—this position does require familiarity with Excel
Team Cohesion and Volunteer Strategy
- Supervise seasonal contractors (e.g. Volunteer Coordinator, Social Media Personnel, Assistant Producer) and oversee work-back schedules.
- Oversee the volunteer program: outreach, orientation, training, scheduling (including drivers), and appreciation/thank-you events.
Marketing and Communications
- Lead campaign planning and launches (festival lineup, evening performance(s), early-bird tickets); manage program guide production and ticketing pages.
- Oversee website, newsletter, and social media; monitor sales and adjust marketing in concert with the whole team.
- Ensure event listings on free community posting sites and manage direct invitations to partners and community stakeholders.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Proven success in festival or event production and project management; strong planning and deadline discipline.
- Granting/reporting skills (or demonstrated aptitude to learn quickly)
- Clear, professional communication.
- Experience supervising staff/contractors and coordinating volunteers; comfortable representing the organization publicly with media, stakeholders, artists, technicians and general public.
Conflicts
- Performance during the 2 weeks prior to and including the weekend of the Canadian National Stilt Symposium. High action dates are: September 19 through October 4, 2026.
Compensation & Term
This is a temporary contract that follows the seasonal cycle of the Canadian National Stilt Symposium which sits within the overall mandate of Three Left Feet. We have ongoing dance and performance activities--the CNSS being one of our marquee activities. There will be considerable increased activity leading into and during the Stilt Symposium and lighter activity post-festival.
Compensation is seasonally structured with the following timeline:
$1200/week (equivalent to 1.0 FTE – in-person activities) for 6 weeks (August 17 thru Sep 27) $600/week (equivalent to 0.5 FTE – in-person activities) for 1 week (Sep. 28-October 2) $600/month (equivalent to approx. 20 hours/per month – hybrid activities) for 2 months (approx. start date: June 15)
