St. Paul's Hospital & Foundation is seeking Indigenous artists from across Saskatchewan to design artwork for St. Paul's Hospital Indigenous Healing Center, which will soon be named through ceremony in Saskatoon. The project team aims to:
  1. Honour Indigenous culture, knowledge and stories through art within the Healing Centre;
  2. Reflect the Seven Sacred Teachings: Respect, Love, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth; and
  3. Create a welcoming and inclusive space for health seeking relatives at St. Paul's Hospital.

Artists and Submission Criteria

Representation - Provincial representation from across the Metis Nation and the eight First Nation linguistic groups.

Samples of Art - Provide 2-4 samples of digital artwork / mural examples, draft sketch with narrative.

The new St. Paul’s Hospital entrance includes an Indigenous Healing Centre equipped with an art rail system. As the first phase of a rotational art program, SPH&F is seeking Saskatchewan Indigenous artists to create art reflecting the Seven Sacred Teachings. The selected artist will be welcomed to present the art through teachings and ceremony upon completion. Each piece of art is anticipated to be in place for no less than three (3) years, and rights to each piece will remain with SPH, who may choose to display the piece in other locations, return the art to the artist or coordinate the transition of the piece with the artist to a third party.
